This Minnesota State Park has spectacular bluff-top views of the Mississippi River Valley from many hiking trails. Located downriver from Winona, the park offers cross country skiing, picnic areas, incredible fall colors and the chance to see hundreds of species of birds. Admission by state park sticker.

This one-mile level, loop trail can be comfortably walked in 30 to 45 minutes. Stops include a flood plain forest, an observation deck on a Mississippi River backwater slough, birds such as wrens, catbirds, brown thrashers and scarlet tanagers, and a deer park.

Almost surrounded by large Victorian homes, many of which are on the National Register of Historic Places, this city-block park is the home of a beautifully restored fountain. The fountain’s center is a turn of the century bronze statue of Princess Wenonah circled by spraying pelicans and turtles. A wooden gazebo and unique plantings complete this Victorian-Era square.
Wear your hiking boots and long pants for a trek through Aghaming(Chippewa for "land in the middle of water") Park and Preserve,1,950 acres of some of the best preserved floodplain forest in the country and a pristine destination for bird watching. It is located at Latsch Island across the MN/WI interstate bridge as you drive east on MN Highway 43.
