America 250 “American Revolution Experience” exhibit coming to Winona
This spring, visitors and residents alike are invited to experience a powerful piece of American history right here in Winona.
The Wenonah Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), in partnership with the American Battlefield Trust and the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, is bringing a special traveling exhibit to the area—an opportunity that has been three years in the making.
After first applying in 2023, the chapter recently received confirmation that the exhibit will be available in May 2026. From securing a venue to coordinating transportation from Necedah, Wisconsin, local DAR members have worked diligently to make this unique experience possible.

This immersive exhibit brings the story of the American Revolution to life through a compelling timeline, highlighting influential people, pivotal places, and the events that led to the birth of a nation in 1776.
Here in Winona, that history feels especially meaningful. Woodlawn Cemetery is home to Steven Taylor, the only known Revolutionary War patriot buried west of the Mississippi River—a remarkable local connection to the founding of the United States.
Presented during the nationwide America 250 celebration, this exhibit offers a timely and enriching experience for visitors of all ages. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, planning a family outing, or looking for a meaningful stop during your time in Winona, this is a can’t-miss opportunity to connect with the stories that shaped our country.
