Where Eagles Soar Beyond
The National Eagle Center encapsulates a world in which the iconic power and presence of eagles are known, respected, advocated for, and protected.
Located in Wabasha, Minnesota, we’re home to several non-releasable Bald Eagles and a nesting place for hundreds of others who come for the winter.
Whether you wish to see these beautiful creatures up close, observe them in their prime habitat, incorporate our research into your own teachings, or donate to support our mission, we have a way for you to get involved.
Explore the Driftless with Bald & Golden Eagle Field Trips!
The National Eagle Center is planning for another fun and exciting winter season of Bald Eagle, Golden Eagle, and Tundra Swan viewing. The Center’s team of eagle experts will lead a series of six award-winning field trips beginning Saturday, November 16, 2024!
In the summer months, you can see Bald Eagles nest along the river valley and feed their young with the plentiful fish of the Mississippi River. During the winter months, you can see hundreds more Bald Eagles as they migrate to the region and gather around open water on the river. It is truly peak eagle-viewing season! But it isn’t just Bald Eagles. The more secretive and elusive Golden Eagles spend their winters in the bluff lands and are harder to spot. These famous National Eagle Center expert-guided field trips provide a personal learning experience and are a great way to learn how to identify Golden Eagles, distinguish them from juvenile Bald Eagles, and better spot them on your own. We also host a special Tundra Swan Migration field trip in November.
These perfect day trips are unforgettable traveling classroom experiences that begin at the Center in Wabasha, MN, travel via coach bus to pre-scouted locations, are accessible to individuals with mobility issues, and require minimal walking. Participants should dress for the weather and bring their own binoculars, spotting scopes, and cameras if desired. Communal binoculars are available as well.
Field trips begin at 12:30 pm and return to the Center between 3:30-4:00 pm. Seats are $50 for members and $60 for non-members. For trip dates and registration visit nationaleaglecenter.org/eagle-
