Nestled along a scenic backwater channel of the Mississippi River just minutes from downtown Winona, Prairie Island Campground offers a one-of-a-kind camping experience surrounded by the natural beauty of the Driftless Region. Choose from RV and tent campsites or custom Tiny Home Rentals, then spend your days paddling quiet waterways, biking nearby trails, casting a line, or relaxing on the sandy beach. With kayak, canoe, paddleboard, and bike rentals available on-site, plus an 18-hole disc golf course, live music, family-friendly programming, and easy access to Prairie Island Park, it’s the perfect basecamp for outdoor adventure and riverside relaxation.

Gear Rentals at Prairie Island: Open to the Public

May – late September, Prairie Island rents bikes, stand-up paddle boards (SUP’s), canoes, kayaks, tents, sleeping bags, pads, and more! High-end equipment offered at a reasonable price that includes paddles and life preservers. Renting equipment is open to the public and able to be done in person as well as online. The bike fleet is made possible by a Minnesota Department of Health SHIP Grant. Persons receiving WIC may rent bikes at no charge.
