Winona Figure Drawing Group Art Exhibit

Exhibit Dates: September 15 – October 27, 2024

Throughout the ages, the center of art has been the human form. Our brains are hardwired to seek out connections with our fellow humans — two dots and a curved line become a smiling face, we can see people in the shapes of clouds and shadows. Whether crude stick figures, near photographic renderings, chiseled sculptures, or artistic abstractions, the human body has been a continual source of artistic inspiration.

The tradition continues and Figure Drawing carries on that sense of artistic wonder. A model poses before us and we attempt to capture the essence of the pose, the twist of the form through space, the light and shade, the musculature and folds of skin, as others have done before us time immemorial.

When exhibits are on display, the Winona Arts Center Gallery is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00pm. The Gallery is also on view during events and programming.
