G. Faye Dant, author of Hannibal’s Invisibles and founder of Jim’s Journey: The Huck Finn Freedom Center in Hannibal, MO, will present an author talk about her experiences confronting the reality of the past and surfacing overlooked histories in her small river community. Following Dant’s talk, Engage Winona will facilitate a conversation about engaging with discomfort in community work.

Dant will be taking part in a History on the River cruise with the Winona County Historical Society on September 19, and will be part of an event in conjunction with Minnesota Marine Art Museum’s A Nation Takes Place exhibition on September 21.
