The Bach Society of Minnesota opens its new season with a musical feast featuring scintillating works by Antonio Vivaldi, G. Ph. Telemann, Handel, and J.S. Bach. The musical mastery is powered by the virtuosity and expression of not one, but two soloists per concerto. Bach’s famous 5th Brandenburg Concerto will take it even further with three soloists.

  • Matthias Maute, recorder
  • Cléa Galhano, recorder
  • Margaret Humphrey, violin
  • Tami Morse, harpsichord
  • And members of Bach Society of MN Orchestra

The Bach Society of Minnesota, now in its 93rd year, will open its 2024-25 season September 18-21 with a Double Concerto Extravaganza. Performances take place Wednesday, September 18 in Mankato, Friday, September 20 in Winona, and Saturday, September 21 in Saint Paul. The musical weekend is capped off September 22 with Water Music on the Mississippi, a concert brunch cruise and fundraiser that takes guests on a delicious and musical journey aboard the Minneapolis Queen riverboat.

“Prepare to be captivated by our Double Concerto Extravaganza, a dazzling showcase of the brilliance of Bach, Telemann, Vivaldi and Handel!” said Matthias Maute, Artistic Director, Bach Society of Minnesota. “By stepping beyond the realm of concertos for a single soloist, we celebrate the intricate interplay and shared artistry that define these masterpieces, offering an unforgettable exploration of the collaborative genius of these timeless masters.”

About Bach Society of Minnesota:

Bach Society of Minnesota was founded in 1932, one of the first organizations in North America to take the legacy of Johann Sebastian Bach as an exclusive starting point for world-class performances with period instruments and historic performance practices that evoke the depths and passions of Bach’s compositions. Under the artistic direction of Matthias Maute, the organization continues its focus on collaboration and excellence, striving to create respectful, successful relationships among musicians, audiences, students, and partner organizations, and building a diverse community with a shared passion for performing, promoting, and appreciating the music of J.S. Bach and those he inspired. For more information about Bach Society of Minnesota, its performances, and concert tickets, visit http://www.bachsocietymn.org.
