What parks allow dogs?

Technically, dogs are only allowed in certain places, but the city is readdressing some of their ordinances and that may change in the future.

Winona’s dog park is located at Prairie Island and is a designated off-leash area where your pup can run free.  It is located on Prairie Island Road across the street from the park near the spillway and is open from dawn until dusk.  Click here for a map.

Other places to hike with a dog include the Holzinger Trails nestled among the bluffs. The Holzinger Trail System is located just off of the West Lake and boasts some of the best trails in the region with 10 miles of trail ranging in difficulty. Great for hiking, snowshoeing, biking and more, but dogs must be on a leash.

Dogs are allowed around West Lake and the Prairie Island Nature Trail, a 1.5 mile loop located along a deer park.

The dog park is the only park within city limits that allows dogs to run off-leash, everywhere else requires dogs to be on-leash.
