What are some things to do with younger children?

Winona has lots of outdoor parks and playgrounds for children! City of Winona has park maps. Some family favorite parks to frequent are:

  • Sinclair Park on Broadway
  • Lake Park on East Lake Park near the Bandshell
  • Bud King Ice Arena/Lions Park Playground Area (near Mississippi River)
  • Michael LaCanne Memorial Park in Goodview
  • Every Child’s Dream Playground

Lake Park not only has outdoor play areas and a great walking/riding path, but they also offer seasonal activities at Lake Lodge. Please note that visitors must have an annual membership or pay a daily fee for these activities. Activities include: kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, biking, disc golf, ice skating and snowshoeing!

The Prairie Island park area has a dog park and deer park, as well as playground equipment – all near the Mississippi River.

During the winter months, Winona has several outdoor ice skating rinks in various neighborhoods. Please check the City of Winona website for the locations and availability.

Other options: Anthem Skate Park, Winona Tour Boat, hiking at Holzinger Trail or Sugar Loaf Trail, visiting Garvin Heights Lookout.
