Winona’s cherished summer festival Steamboat Days kicks off its 72nd year with events centered around downtown Winona, June 12-16. Family-friendly activities this year include the Kid Power Pedal Pull, Kids’ Fishing Contest, Kiddie Parade and Concert, Crafts for Kids, Gold Star Amusements’ Carnival, and Kid Fit during the Car Show.
Make sure to stop by the stable tent in downtown for daily viewings of the Budweiser Clydesdales throughout the fest, and as well as a featured slot in the Steamboat Days Grande Parade.
This year the Beverage Garden will be set on the Patio in Levee Park with a stunning view of the Mississippi River. The Garden will open at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, June 12, and band features include TravAce and the Generators, Hair Metal Radio, Johnny Holm, Diesel Drive and the Rutabaga Brothers.
The “Show Your Ride” Car Show is Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in downtown Winona on 3rd Street. The Grande Parade is Sunday with pre-parade activities that include a street performance of the award-winning Blue Stars at Sinclair Park at 11:00 a.m. The parade starts at 12:01 p.m., moving west on Broadway starting at St. Charles Street and ending at Center Street. Steamboat Days will close on Sunday evening, June 16 at 10:00 p.m., with fireworks over the Mississippi River at Levee Park.
Buttons are for sale in advance for $5 at many area retailers, grocery and convenience stores, and are $10 during Steamboat Days. Ride wristbands may be purchased in advance for $20 at Hy-Vee and Midtown Foods. Wristbands are $25 during Steamboat Days.
