City of Winona Launches New Website to Highlight the Work of Local Artists

The City of Winona’s office of arts and culture has launched a new website, to highlight our Creative Landscape and to respond to this crisis with Create During Covid. Besides all the ongoing creative activities in our community cataloged there, is also a one stop place to find important resources and creative activity started to counteract the Covid 19 crisis. So many of our arts and culture organizations have had to regroup and so many patrons have had to cancel creative plans. Create During Covid was launched to address these important issues and to provide a hub for new initiatives for the City:
Create In Place- a listing of creatives offering classes, lessons, online activities, and seeking commissions. By supporting these artists, you will be helping ensure the creative future of Winona, but also receiving wonderful creative therapy and activities as you stay in place.
Make In Place- a digital crafts and artisan mall featuring the best of Winona’s local makers. Make in Place will hold a digital craft fair- Covid Craft Fair- where you can meet and greet the best of our area crafts people and shop together safely by visiting their websites while they guide you.
Live @the Stream- a digital live stream service for local creatives of all disciplines to feature or help execute their live stream arts programming. Please Stand By will kick off with some live streams from Treedome Studios and then partner on the Mid West Music Fest At Home, May 8th and 9th. Following up will be performing arts concert events that will create a digital community commons.

On its website, Winonarts describes its goals as the following:

  • Encourage all Winonans, residents, city staff, and government officials to view our city as a living work of art
  • Provide a broad spectrum of cultural activity that will encourage community participation and social growth enhancing the quality of life and economic prosperity for all in the region
  • Offer educationally relevant cultural programming for learners of all ages
  • Nurture accessible and diverse audiences through free or affordable programming that resonates across all ages and the cultural spectrum
