MMAM exhibits artist’s paintings of the Mississippi River

Thomas Paquette: America’s River Re-Explored, Paintings of the Mississippi from Source to Gulf, now on display at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, documents one artist’s three-year journey to capture the entire length of America’s river on canvas. Painter Thomas Paquette is a Minnesota native now living in Pennsylvania. He has spent his professional career painting American landscapes and his work has been featured in solo museum shows throughout the United States and has hung in 18 U.S. embassies on five continents. In America’s River Re-Explored, Paquette depicts familiar vistas on the Mississippi while playing with vibrant colors and bold lighting. From its source in Itasca State Park in Northern Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico, from pristine rural landscapes to urban city centers, Paquette gives us a new way to look at an old river. On display until August 28. Visit mmam.org for more information.
