Signs of Summer at MMAM: Mississippi Sippin’ and Family Fest

The return of warmer weather means a boom of growth in the gardens at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum (MMAM). There are many ways to enjoy the eight acres of native trees, shrubs and perennials done in the American prairie style along the banks of the Mississippi River. Enjoy a glass of wine or beer with freshly prepared food on the Riverwalk from 4:30-6:30 p.m., every Tuesday this summer, beginning on June 4, during Mississippi Sippin’.

MMAM’s Second Saturday program offers $1 admission and programming such as tours, art-making and live music based around a central theme. The theme for June 11th’s event is “gardens.” The annual family fest, held from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on June 29, is a free event aimed at families with young children. Garden events at family fest include sidewalk chalk, bubbles and fishing on the banks of the river. For more information on any of these events, go to http://www.mmam.org.
