Winona County Historical Society and River Arts Alliance announce 2021-2022 Gallery Schedule

The Winona County Historical Society (WCHS) and River Arts Alliance (RAA) are excited to announce a full schedule of art shows for the Slaggie Family Lobby of the Winona County History Center. Enjoy a wide range of mediums and styles and even take some home, as most shows have artwork for sale, benefiting WCHS.

The pilot show is an extension of the RAA Member Show, Making History: RAA Member Exhibit and Showcase, on exhibit now through Saturday, July 17. A closing reception is scheduled for July 16, 4 – 6 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.

Wild Knowing by Anita Jain, fiber artist

Opening Reception: Friday, July 23, 4 – 6 p.m.
Anita was born in Finland and now lives in Maple Grove, Minnesota. Finnish folklore and nature inspire her art. Her work has been shown at the American Swedish Institute, Perpich Center for Arts, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Textile Museum of Finland, Kortteli Museum of Kuopio, Finland, and Art Factory of Porvoo, Finland.

Shakespeare Inspired Group Show – Applications Due May 1, 2022
The Winona County Historical Society and River Arts Alliance are seeking artists to apply to exhibit artwork inspired by William Shakespeare! The show will be an invitational for professional artists and open call for emerging artists. The show will be during the summer of 2022 in conjunction with the Great River Shakespeare Festival. Applications are online now. Submit up to 2 Shakespeare-inspired works for consideration for the open call (all ages welcome) by May 1, 2022. The selection committee was thrilled with so many amazing proposals. WCHS and RAA continue to invite regional artists to apply anytime.  An online application and more information can be found at winonahistory.org.

Gallery shows are free to view. Regular museum admission applies for the History Center exhibition hall and archives.
