Thanks for visiting!

You know, as a travel writer I’ve found that there are very few places that truly become a melting pot for tourism, appealing to so many distinctly different interests that visitors come from all corners for entirely different reasons.

But there is a little jewel of a town on the shores of the Mississippi River in Southeastern Minnesota that can really call itself All That, a town where world-class recreation fights for center stage with world-class entertainment, a town blessedly free of the bustle of the big city but with all of the amenities one would expect to find in a city much larger. It’s a town that oozes turn-of-the-century charm and 22nd century ideas, a town that loves its history as much as it loves its future, a town that comes close to being one of the best kept secrets in Minnesota.

Well I’m spilling the secret. It’s too good not to. This is my town – Winona, Minnesota, and after having written about cities large and small around the country, I feel like I need to talk about a place I think gives them all a run for their money.

So welcome to my weekly blog about Winona. Part scoop, part insider info, part pure bragging, in 2010 I’m going to make it my mission to connect people everywhere to the things that truly put this place on the map.
