Award winning “Miami of Minnesota” campaign featured on KSTP TV

It’s been the talk on Tik Tok, featured in the Minneapolis Star Tribune, and KSTP TV followed their lead by coming to Winona to interview Visit Winona Marketing Specialist, Cynthya Porter, about the “Miami of Minnesota” marketing campaign. It’s been a local adage for years so Visit Winona created the funny, tongue-in-cheek campaign to “make people laugh,” and draw attention to Winona in a playful way with the hope to bring visitors to Winona and it’s working! The comparison is due to the fact that Winona and Miami are the hottest parts of their states and both are located in the southeastern parts of their states.

A website designed by Visit Winona features fun activities like zip lining on the Gator Gauntlet Zip Line, flying with flamingos and swimming with alligators. Porter presented the campaign at a recent conference and came home with an Innovation award!
