Winona was listed as one of the prettiest towns in Minnesota according to World Atlas, an “educational geography website.” Its location on the Mississippi River and the bluffs that surround it makes it a pretty river valley town. Along with its beauty is the arts and culture scene. It’s home to the annual Great River Shakespeare Festival where professional actors perform Shakespeare plays in repertoire. Steamboat Days Festival is Winona’s annual summer festival and provides fun activities for the whole family. The Minnesota Marine Art Museum exhibits “great art inspired by water,” and is located right along the banks of the back channel of the Mississippi River. The architecture dates back to the Victorian with many historic homes and downtown businesses to admire. Outdoor recreation is abundant and the Garvin Heights Park sits atop a bluff with a trail leading up to the park where an overlook showcases Winona and the Mississippi River Valley.
