Winona resident receives honorary Polish badge

Winona resident, Winona International Friendship Association vice president and former Winona city council member, Tim Breza, was given an Honorary Badge by Mayor Ryzard Sylka of Bytow at a special Polish Heritage Dinner in Winona. A Polish delegation from Winona’s sister city is visiting Winona for a week to participate in a variety of activities honoring the almost 20 year old sister-city relationship. This prestigious award was given to Breza for his role in the WIFA and his work with the Polish Museum in Winona. Breza is one of  only 4 people who have received the award outside of Poland and it is “both approved by the Polish national board and the president of Poland.”  Breza’s grandparents were from the Kashubian region of Poland which contributes to the pride he feels for his heritage. Another Winona resident, Michelle Alexander, will travel to Bytow in July to also receive this same award.

“We are very proud, at this side of the Atlantic Ocean, we have a great friend and ambassador of Polish and Kashubian matters,” Sylka said
