Downtown Winona recently hosted its 5th annual “Swinging in the Street” dance party, organized by the River City Ballroom Dancers. This community event, part of the “Winona in the Street” summer series, took place on Friday, June 7, from 6 PM to 10 PM at the corner of Third and Center Streets in front of Blooming Grounds.
The evening began with dance lessons from 6 PM to 7 PM, led by Stan and Molly Breitlow, followed by live music from 7 PM to 9 PM performed by Greg Balfany and members of the La Crosse Jazz Orchestra. The dance party continued until 10 PM, providing attendees the option to either enjoy good food and drinks while listening to live big band music or participate in the swing dance lessons.
The event was free to the public and aimed at bringing the community together through music and dance. It was sponsored by various local businesses, including Watlow, Bay State Milling, Peter’s Biergarten, and several others, highlighting the community’s support and enthusiasm for such cultural events
