The Music Mart

Recently opened in downtown Winona!

Established in 1970, Martin Meidl opened our first school music store, The Music Mart, in Lamberton, Minnesota. In 1991, Martin and his son, Joseph (Joe), opened a second location in Mankato, Minnesota, which Joe has overseen for the past 28 years. We were excited to expand our school partnerships and in 2016 added a store location in Faribault, Minnesota, and more recently, in August 2018, we partnered with Wellhaven Music in Rochester, Minnesota.

The Music Mart, Inc. works with over 150 elementary & secondary school choir, band and orchestra directors, along with many other music teachers across Southern Minnesota. Our knowledgeable sales representatives visit these schools on a weekly basis during the academic year where we deliver and/or pick-up instruments for repair, cleaning, exchanges, and more. We also deliver accessories to the students and directors. Our employees have over 100 years of combined experience, some holding degrees in Music, Music Education, Music Business/Management, Music Performance and Band Instrument Repair.

In support of our students and schools, our store locations in Mankato, Faribault, Rochester and now Winona have excellent repair facilities with experienced Repair Technicians on staff. We repair woodwind, brass, percussion and string instruments; complete striping and lacquering of instruments is outsourced.

The Music Mart, Inc. is a franchise dealer for most major brands of band and orchestral instruments, including, but not limited to:

• Band Instruments – Yamaha, Jupiter/Mapex, Conn-Selmer, Eastman, Getzen, Buffet, Gemeinhardt, Chateau
• String Instruments – Eastman, Amati, Yamaha, Roth, Scott Cao

In addition to supporting school band and orchestra programs within a 100 mile plus radius of Mankato, our customers also include churches, over 260 piano teachers, as well as, parents and students from all walks of life. For them, we stock major piano series, contest music, fun books and sheet music from many publishers.

Over the years, The Music Mart, Inc. has sponsored and/or has actively participated in the following events, scholarships and award programs:

• Kiwanis Thunder of Drums
• Piano Teacher Workshop – Coordinated and held in Mankato, MN
• Merry Tuba Christmas – Tuba and Euphonium players from anywhere and of any age are invited to participate in the Tuba events. Your name can be added to our mailing list just by dropping us a line.
• The Lamberton Jazz Festival – A program started over 40 years ago
• Kids Making Music – A program that provided instruments for students who may not have been able to afford them.
