To kick off Arbor Day celebrations on April 23 at 7 p.m. in Science Lab Center 120, WSU Arboretum Director Nate Anderson will present his talk entitled “Lessons from Longwood Gardens: Shaping the Future of the Landscape Arboretum at WSU.” Drawing from his recent sabbatical as a fellow at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pa., Anderson will discuss key insights gained about public gardens and their implications for the future of WSU’s campus landscape. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the future of public horticulture and enjoy inspiring garden highlights from across the U.S. and beyond that will inspire and inform your own landscaping.

A community bare root seedling giveaway sponsored by the Johnny Appleseed Project and the Landscape Arboretum at Winona State University will take place before the talk on April 23 at 6:30 p.m. in Science Lab Center 120, on April 26 at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. as part of Big River Clean + Planting event, and on May 3 at the Bluff Country Coop and Midtown Foods (while supplies last).
