Heart of the North Gypsy Vanner Classic

September 21 - September 22

Gypsy-Vanner-Horse-Show-Minnesota-Equestrian-Center-Winona
Stop out to the Minnesota Equestrian Center and experience the majesty of this unique breed of horse: The Gypsy Vanner.
Gypsy Vanner was originally bred by the Romany or Gypsy Travelers of Great Britain. They are a light draft horse with long flowing mane and tail, as well as “feathers” on their legs from the knee down. They are built to pull the vargos, or Gypsy wagons, and bred to be gentle and calm enough to camp with the families. They were bred to be showy and colorful so the government wouldn’t take them for war horses! They first came to this country just a few years ago–1996–and their popularity is exploding!
