Winona Brass Band Spring Concert

April 6 @ 3:00 pm

The Winona Brass Band will finish their 31st season with a spring concert at the Winona Middle School Auditorium on Sunday, April 6th at 3:00 pm. The ensemble is excited to return to the Middle School stage for the second time this season.
This performance will feature a variety of pieces, both old and new starting with two traditional Brass Band favorites, Curnow’s Blenheim Flourishes and Exhibition Quick March by Hume. Audiences will enjoy the multi-movement Cry of the Celts as well as the regional premiere of Norwegian composer Torstein Aagaard-Nilsen’s Vikingkirken. The work was composed to commemorate the 1000 year anniversary of the establishment of a church in Kabelvag, Norway. It’s a musical illustration of the historic event – the rough and powerful in contrast to the sacred and delicate. Other works on the program include selections by John Williams and William Himes.
All Winona Brass Band concerts are free and open to all. Donations are accepted to support the group’s mission to enhance the cultural environment of Winona by performing three concerts per year.
