MMAM, “A Midwest Gem,” featured in Journal and Topics

Gary Knowles, a writer for Journals and Topics, which serves the Chicago’s great Northwest suburbs, featured the Minnesota Marine Art Museum in its latest issue referring to it as a “Midwest Gem that is worth a look.  As more people are getting their COVID-19 injections, the prospects for safer travel are increasing by the day. Be ready to hit the road.”

Knowles writes:

MMAM is home to some of the most unique and significant marine-water-themed artworks and exhibits in the Midwest. Current shows include a “Memories of the Titanic” with art and objects associated with the loss and shipwreck of RMS Titanic. On view is a young survivor’s riveting first-hand account of the disaster, paintings by American artist Colin Campbell Cooper from when he was aboard the rescue ship Carpathia, a ship model, and original telegrams. Tony Duran’s “Photographs” include award-winning commercial, fashion, celebrity portrait, and architectural works. This Winona, Minnesota-born artist lived in Los Angeles for the last two decades and his acclaimed photos for musician Jennifer Lopez, led him to photograph top celebrities in music, fashion, film, and television. On display are portraits of Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Tom Cruise, Sandra Bullock, Sharon Stone, Jane Fonda and dozens more on the beaches, and in the pools and baths of California.
