Those who know Winona, undoubtably know Bloedow Bakery. This legacy bakery, famous for their incomparable donuts draws national praise and local pride. From maple long johns to glorious glazed to homemade bread and more, Bloedow’s rises above the competition, and has become one of the most famous landmarks of Winona.
On the home page of its website, River Travel Magazine says that its mission, “focuses on communities and attractions on both sides of the Mississippi River, and was formed to showcase the nationally designated and internationally known Great River Road, 3,000 miles bordering the Mississippi River from Lake Itasca to New Orleans.”
Recently the travel mag published a piece listing two spots from each state along the Mississippi that are ‘must-stops’ for those craving a sugary treat. The article, titled, Sweet Stops and Doughnut Shops on the Great River Road, begins with the words, “Donuts, ice cream, cupcakes, chocolates and more! Satisfy your Great River Road sugar craving at these sweet spots and stops.”
On Bloedow’s, the writer pens, “Nothing smells better than freshly baked donuts in the morning! Bloedow’s is a local favorite and was featured by HGTV!”
