Nosh Scratch Kitchen Opens in Downtown Winona

The wait is over, after much anticipation and a few delays, Winona has a new restaurant gracing its historic downtown.

The Winona Daily News took a look at how NOSH Scratch Kitchen has boomed in its first two weeks of business in an article titled, “NOSH Scratch Kitchen Owner Says Downtown Winona Restaurant has Busy Start,” by reporter Josh DeLaRosa.

De LaRosa reports, “NOSH Scratch Kitchen owner and head chef Greg Jaworski opened the doors to his restaurant in early February, and business has steadily proven to be a success.” Quoting Jaworski, DeLaRosa writes, “People really seem to like our style of service, and the menu’s gone over well.”

What should diners expect when they visit NOSH? Jaworski tells DeLaRosa, “It’s one of those spots where if you want to you can have six courses… Or you can just have a couple of small plates. I would like to think there is good value here.” Jaworski also tells the Winona Daily News that he describes the atmosphere of NOSH as “casual fine dining.”

DeLaRosa also spoke with some customers about the new restaurant. Sam Hanson, who had already dined at NOSH twice in its first two weeks of business tells the reporter, “Both times were amazing… Their service was impeccable and superb. From the attentiveness of the server to the attention to detail the chefs put into their dishes, the service creates an atmosphere that is similar to that of a top restaurant in the Twin Cities.”

In January, Star Tribune food critic Rick Nelson talked NOSH in a Q&A column, writing, “One project that’s particularly exciting is south of the Twin Cities. Chef Greg Jaworski is in the process of moving his (terrific) 14-year-old Nosh Restaurant from Lake City, Minn., to a historic building in downtown Winona. He’s renamed the place Nosh Scratch Kitchen (102 Walnut St.), and is hoping to open by the end of the month, with a plan to continue his lively take on seasonal, locally sourced fare.”
